Become A Quarterjack

How do I join?

To join, simply turn up on a Wednesday evening at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Wimborne Minster. We start practicing at 7:15pm and finish at 9:30pm. We start members with a 3 week trial, to ensure that they enjoy being part of the band before becoming a member.

Who are DYMB?

The Dorset Youth Marching Band is always ready to accept new members. The well established band has been in existence since 1996 after becoming independent from the Scouts, previously being the East Dorset Scout Band. In May 2009 DYMB were given the official title of Wimborne Town Band. The band is run by a team of very experienced leaders and management team. The majority of the leaders have grown up in the band and are the first point of contact for any member of the band as the leaders play in the band itself. The leaders are an approachable and friendly bunch who are always on hand to help with any problems any members may have. Want to know more about the people behind the band, take a look at the More Info further down the page.

Teaching and Equipment

We provide all the training and equipment required to be a part of the band. We provide the instrument and uniform (including shoes and accessories). We teach all members how to march and play the instrument and you don’t even need to be able to read music.

What do you do?

DYMB play in carnivals, fetes, fairs and concerts throughout the year. In recent years we have been making regular trips to France to perform and meet up with friends that we have made over there. We go on an annual camp to Devon to perform in the impressive Kingsbridge Carnival, as well as making trips to the beach, Woodlands Theme Park etc. The band also run sponsored events raising funds for the band and other charities, such as runs and cycles which members are encouraged to be a part of.
